Expert nose shaping in Nashville, Tennessee
Rhinoplasty is one of the most common plastic surgery procedures performed in the United States. Arguably, rhinoplasty is one of the most challenging of all facial cosmetic procedures. Given the difficulty of this complicated procedure, many individuals are unhappy with their original “nose job” or “nose reshaping.” In these cases, a revision rhinoplasty may be advisable.
Since your nose is the most prominent feature on your face and balances other facial features, Dr. Mark Clymer understands that is important to be satisfied with your rhinoplasty. He has successfully helped men and women achieve their desired result.
If you are concerned about your rhinoplasty and are interested in a revision procedure, schedule a confidential consultation with Dr. Mark Clymer.
WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR REVISION RHINOPLASTY?
You may be a candidate for revision rhinoplasty if the initial rhinoplasty did not meet your expectations or goals or your breathing difficulty wasn’t resolved.
In most instances, revision rhinoplasty is challenging because of the scar tissue that formed within the nose. Scar tissue may cause thickening of the tissue, resulting in some distortion of the nose.
HOW IS REVISION RHINOPLASTY PERFORMED?
Revision rhinoplasty is performed by carefully reshaping the bone and cartilage of the nose. In some cases, there may be a need for cartilage grafts to achieve the desired goals. The need for cartilage grafts is usually determined during your consultation with Dr. Clymer.
Incisions are hidden inside the nose and sometimes at its base to allow restructuring and shaping of the framework underneath. The skin is then allowed to re-drape over the new structure, and a small nasal splint is applied to help the nose maintain its new form. Dr. Clymer does not use nasal packing for either his first time rhinoplasty patients OR his revision rhinoplasty patients.
Revision rhinoplasty is performed in an accredited outpatient surgical setting under local or general anesthesia
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT AFTER YOUR REVISION RHINOPLASTY PROCEDURE?
Dr. Clymer advises patients that immediately following their nose surgery to expect, bruising, swelling and discomfort for a few days. This is treated with cold compresses and medication prescribed by Dr. Clymer. Typically, most bruising is gone in 10-14 days.*
Makeup may be applied as soon as the splint is removed, usually around seven days after surgery. Most of Dr. Clymer’s rhinoplasty patients are back to work or other non-strenuous activities in a week or two. Resumption of exercise is recommended two-weeks after rhinoplasty.* Dr. Clymer’s personalized after-care plan provides explicit recommendations.
