Revision Facelift

Expert Revision Facelift Surgery in Franklin, Brentwood, and Nashville, TN

A revision facelift, sometimes called a secondary facelift, is a cosmetic surgery procedure to “update” a past facelift or to correct an unsatisfactory facelift, such as asymmetry, the look of scar(s), or other reasons that the patient is unhappy with the results.

A revision facelift is much more complex than an initial or first facelift because Dr. Clymer must take into consideration the scar tissue, altered facial anatomy and, often, weakened skin elasticity. His skill and years of experience make Dr. Clymer the obvious choice for a revision facelift (or revision face lift).

Four Common Reasons People Opt for a Revision Facelift:

  1. Aging: As time passes, both gravity and natural aging cause facial skin and tissues to sag again, leading to the desire for a “touch-up” facelift
  2. Scar Improvement: A facelift revision can improve the appearance of previous scars
  3. Irregularities: Uneven results from an initial facelift can be adjusted in a revision facelift
  4. Personal Preference: Some of our Nashville area revision facelift patients desire a more—or less—”lifted look” than they received with their initial facelift results

Options for a Revision Facelift

Depending on the technique used in your initial facelift procedure, there are several options from which to choose in a revision facelift. At your private revision facelift consultation, Dr. Clymer will examine your face and neck and recommend the right revision face lift for you.

It’s important to keep in mind that a revision facelift is just that—surgical changes to a previous facelift. Even if you were satisfied with your original facelift, your facial skin and the tissues and muscles beneath your skin have continued to age. Therefore, your revision facelift may or may not be the same type of facelift that you had the first time.

Mini-Facelift

A mini-facelift revision is appropriate for those with concerns about continued aging in the lower part of the face, but who do not need a mid-facelift or a full facelift. A mild degree of jawline sagging, facial and neck wrinkles, and sagging skin on the neck can indicate that a mini-facelift is appropriate to reduce aging in the lower part of the face.

Mid-Facelift

A mid-facelift is exactly what it sounds like: a facelift focused on the mid-face, cheeks, and the area above your upper lip. Normal aging and/or weight loss can lead patients with a previous mini-facelift to consider a mid-facelift revision to address sagging cheeks, deep folds between the nose and corners of the mouth, and facial wrinkling that is not adequately resolved with another mini-facelift or non-surgical treatments such as dermal fillers and laser skin rejuvenation. A satisfactory mid-facelift revision depends greatly upon the amount of bone support and facial volume.

Full Facelift

Dr. Mark A. Clymer’s full facelift is a combination of an endoscopic brow lift, an upper and lower eyelid lift and a deep plane facelift, which rejuvenates the entire face from hairline to collar bones. It is most often the choice for those selecting a revision facelift, as it addresses the most frequent reason for that revision facelift: continued aging.
