Expert Eyelid Surgery in Nashville, Tennessee
An eyelid lift or a blepharoplasty is the preferred treatment for men and women who have drooping eyelids and/or bags under their eyes. For those patients who feel that lower eyelid puffiness, or bags and eyelid dropping adds years to their facial appearance and gives them a “tired” look, a blepharoplasty can help. The procedure also improves vision impaired by the drooping eyelid skin.
If you are looking for a more rested and youthful facial appearance, an eyelid lift may be right for you.

How Is an Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty) Procedure Performed?
Dr. Mark Clymer typically performs his eyelid lift surgeries in a certified outpatient surgical suite. The patient receives local anesthetic, supplemented with sedation medication. A critical step in the eyelift surgery is to precisely place an incision in the natural crease present in the patient’s upper eyelid skin. Excess fat and skin are then carefully removed. The incision is closed with fine sutures that are removed three days after the procedure.*
Dr. Clymer advises his eyelid lift patients that their incision heals in a line that mimics the natural upper eyelid skin crease. The lower eyelid tuck is most often performed with an incision placed behind the eyelashes or under the lash line, where it is not visible.
During a cosmetic correction to the lower eye area, excess fat and skin is removed and fat is often repositioned to correct hollows.
For some patients an eyelid lift procedure may be combined with a forehead lift and/or a facelift to achieve optimal facial rejuvenation results.
Who Can Benefit From an Eyelid Lift?
Patients who can benefit from an eyelid lift are those who have:
- Drooping eyelids
- Under eye bags
- Fat deposits (puffiness in the eyelids)
- Vision impairment from sagging eyelid skin
Dr. Clymer advises patients that a blepharoplasty procedure can be performed as an upper or lower. They can also be combined.
Upper Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty) – Corrects sagging skin, loose muscle, and/or excess fat tissue along their upper eyelids. Also, improves vision on those patients who have visual impairment from eyelids that are blocking their vision.
Lower Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty) – Corrects drooping skin or excess tissue along the lower eyelids. A lower blepharoplasty addresses eye bags (extra fatty deposits), puffiness, and dark under-eye circles.
Upper and Lower Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty) – A common procedure is to perform both upper and lower blepharoplasty at the same time in order to correct upper lid and lower lid issues.
Eyelid Lift Combined with Brow/Forehead Lift – Dr. Mark Clymer has helped men and women attain their facial improvement goals with a brow lift. For many patients, a brow lift is performed with an eyelid lift (blepharoplasty). Dr. Clymer can discuss with you if a forehead/brow lift is the recommended facial rejuvenation procedure to help you achieve your goals.
